Chris Mouncey

Chris was born in Suffolk and now lives in Weardale with his wife Val and their family. He has painted watercolours professionally since 1980, specialising in landscape, architecture and interiors.

“Over the last twenty nine years, living in the Pennines and painting professionally, I have had time to explore the effects of light and weather on the landscape around me. For this, watercolour seems to me the perfect medium.”

“My paintings are a response to these constant changes which reflect my love of my surroundings as I travel through some of the wildest parts of northern Britain on each journey I take.”

“I often paint from memory, especially my miniature landscapes, as the light and sky I want to capture shift so rapidly and dramatically.”
